Abstract
Gene therapy is useful for cancer which is associated with altered
expression of genes. With advancing knowledge, more and more genes
are identified. The exact role in preventing and curing cancer with gene
therapy is still at a primitive stage in certain cases. There is no doubt
that chemo- gene therapy, which is a combination of gene transfer and
chemo therapy, will play an important role in advanced cancer. Several
gene therapy trials are underway worldwide. Based upon the results of
these trials, gene therapy may be used as a sole therapy or as an
adjuvant to other modalities of treatment.
