Abstract

The word “Dron” means cup. Thus, the name has been derived from its cuplike looking flower. It is known for several valuable properties such as Shothhar, Kamalahar, Vishamajwaraghna, Tamak shwasahar, Kashar, Krimihar. Modern day research also confirms properties such as antioxidant, analgesic, anti-inflamatory, hepato-protective, antiinfective etc. Traditional medicine has used it in fever, snake poisoning, headache, jaundice, respiratory disorders, blood borne disorders, dysmenorrhea, oligomenorrhoea like conditions.
