AETIOPATHOGENESIS OF AMAVAT

Abstract

Amavat is the disorder mentioned in ayurved in Laghutrayi i. e. Madhav Nidan, Bhavprakash, Sharangdhar Samhita. It is not mentioned in Charak, Sushrut, Vagbhat. It is the disease of joints. Sever pain and swelling of the joint is thwe main complaint of the patient. This disease can be correlated with Rheumatic fever and rheumatoid arthritis in the modern science. Migrating pain ios the diagnostic feature of the Amavat. This disease is included in Rasavah Strotas. In the complication stage permanent deformity can be observed. Also the involment of Hearrt is also important.
