AYURVEDIC MANAGEMENT IN GRUDHRASI (SCIATICA AND PIVD)- A CASE STUDY

Abstract Low Back pain is one of the most common medical problems that cause a significant amount of disability and incapability; Over the last decades there has been increasing evidence of links between manual therapy and its effect on lower back pain due to prolapsed intervertebral disc. Patients main complaint was pain at lower back and severe tingling sensation of the both lower limb from Lumbar region with stiffness and radiating pain of left lower limb. On Physical examination, the SLRT (Straight Leg Rising Test) was 30 degree of left leg, Sciatic notch tenderness was also seen. Patient was Diagnosed Sciatica which is correlated to Grudhrasi which comes under Vatvyadhi in Ayurveda. Panchakarma Therapies like Sthanik Abhyanga, Nadi Sweda, Valuka pottali sweda, Shashtishali pinda sweda. Basti, Nasya, Siravedha, Agnikarma, Vedhan, Jalokacharan, Along with that Vata Shamak drugs were given orally to the patient and it found to be very effective. Panchkarma procedure along with Shaman therapy as per Ayurveda act on Vata dosha which is responsible for Grudhrasi, due to that treatment Patient becomes better than previously.
