REVIEW ON THE CONCEPT OF SROTASA IN CARAK SAMHITA W.S.R TO THEIR MULA (ORIGINATION)

Abstract

All the Srotasa are having two Mula. Different meanings of Mula are basis, foundation, cause, origin, commencement, and beginning. There is difference of opinion in Mula of Srotasa as per Acharya Carak and Acharya Sushruta. Acharya Sushruta has clearly clarified that according to the speciality of subject the matter is been explained. He quotes that as Sushrta Samhita is a Shalya [surgery] based classic so here the Mula has been mentioned with reference to Viddha lakshana.[1] While Charak Samhita being a Kaya Cikitsa [Medicine] based classic, the Mula is been mentioned in respect to the Dushti of Srotasa.
