AN APPRAISAL ON AYURVEDA INSIGHTS OF GRUDHRASI VYADHI (SCIATICA) – CRITICAL REVIEW

Abstract As walking is an integral part of the routine since man learnt walking, the ailment which hamper the movement of the limbs are as old as the learning of walking. A normal daily life without moving the limbs is almost impossible for any human being from the time immemorial to ultramodern life. Though the movements of the limbs are so important, these are the parts frequently vulnerable to many diseases. The most common disorder which affects the movements of the leg is low back pain, out of which 40% of persons will have radicular pain which comes under sciatic syndrome. Such presentation‟s been present in olden period too and was called by the name Grudhrasi. It is considered as a Shula Pradhana Vaatavyadhi. In modern era, due to computerization & industrialization peoples have to work in sitting positions for many hours, they follow wrong driving techniques to catch the speed. Busy lifestyle causes improper & irregular dietary habits & lack of exercises which affects the health of the human beings. Grudhrasi is one of the end results of above routine.
