EFFICACY OF VAMAN KARMA IN THE MANAGEMENT OF TARUNYAPITIKA/MUKHADUSHIKA WITH SPECIAL REFERENCE TO ACNAE VULGARIS –A CASE STUDY

Abstract

Background: Mukhadushika/Tarunyapitika is explained by Madhava nidana in Kshudraroga. It is also called as Tarunyapitika. It occurs due to kapha, vata, rakta dushti. According to modern it is related to Acnae vulgaris. It is disorder characterised by chronic inflammation of blocked pilosebaceous follicle. It predominantly affects teenagers. Aim: To study the effect of vaman karma in mukhadushika /tarunyapitika. Methodology: This study deals with a 20 year old male patient having lesions consist of papules and pustules over face since 2 years. Patient have complaints of burning sensation and pain over face. Patient was diagnosed as Acnae vulgaris and according to Ayurveda mukhadushika /tarunyapitika. Treatment was given such as vaman karma and shaman chikitsa. Result: Patient got symptomatic relief in Tarunyapitika/Mukhadushika at the end of treatment. Conclusion: Vaman karma is found to be effective in the management of tarunyapitika/mukhadushika.
