ISOLATION, CHARACTERIZATION AND COMPARATIVE STUDY OF INSECTICIDAL COMPOUND FROM SEEDS OF ANNONA SQUAMOSA
Vivek Singh Rajpoot*, Manish Sharma, Anurag Singh and Surendra Jain
Abstract Herbal medicine is still the mainstay of about 75 - 80% of the world population. Annona species have been used as a natural remedy for a variety of illnesses with antiparasitic, antispasmodic, antidiarrheal, antiulcer, sedative, analgesic, hypotensive, and vermifuge effects. These properties are due to the presence of a number of bioactive compounds on the leaves, fruit, seeds, and stem. This study investigated the insecticidal activity of different extracts from Annona squamosa seeds. The extraction of seeds of Annona squamosa by using sequential soxhlation method using various solvents, according to polarity. The seeds of Annona squamosa, by-products from the edible fruit, were also extracted (Maceration) with ethanol and partitioning with some solvents (Petroleum ether, Ethyl acetate, Methanol and water). Then fractionation with column to collect various fraction. The metabolic extract was subjected to preliminary phytochemical screening and find out various property then calculated extractive value. A chromatographic technique (TLC, HPLC) are used to separate a single moiety. In HPLC techniques using mobile phase acetonitrile and water ratio (70:30) to find the Rf value 4.2 at RP-HPLC and TLC plate identified by UV chamber to detection of spot. Keywords: Annona squamosa, Insecticidal, Soxhlation, Maceration, Chromatography and UV-Chamber. [Full Text Article] [Download Certificate] |
