Abstract
The diagnosis and treatment of patients with corrosive ingestion is questionable. An important factor in the prognosis of these patients is the delay in the diagnosis of necrosis of the full thickness of the esophagus and stomach. The rate of delay in management and surgery predicts death in these patients. How to manage these patients is always controversial. All recommended diagnostic methods, such as simple X-ray, CBC, arterial blood gas, CT scan, and endoscopy, are appropriate and have a good effect on the treatment results if they make no delay in the treatment of adult patients who had ingested irritants. In cases that lead to surgery, due to the problems, the surgeon decides to perform the insertion of esophagus stent with feeding jejunostomy or second look 48 hours later or the resection of the gangrene organ reservation. If these methods are not possible, it is recommended to use patient history, clinical signs, and surgery as a final diagnosis approach and treatment.
