Abstract

Vatavyadhi is an umbrella term that signifies various diseases primarily caused by Prakupita Vatadosha. They constitute the majority of diseases encountered in clinical practice. Ayurvedic classics have stressed the superiority of Vatadosha among Tridosha in various contexts, and have also described various Vatavyadhi in detail. Here, an attempt is made to understand the various facets of Vatavaydhi particularly with respect to its etiopathogenesis.
