THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC: REGULATORY RESPONSE IN CONTROL AND TREATMENT

Abstract Coronaviruses are among the old viruses, among which SARS-CoV2 has caused world health emergency greater than earlier viruses. The Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19), declared as pandemic in early 2020, has been a challenging issue for healthcare providers and regulatory authorities. It has strained all the resources and tremendously affected socially and economically to people worldwide. The regulators have been issuing guidelines for controlling, management, treatment, prevention and conduct of clinical trials time to time. Various global workshops are being conducted for developing new ways to stop this virus. Efficiency and working of WHO and regulatory authorities has been challenged by due to widespread of the disease. The foremost step towards the halt of the disease is to develop an appropriate treatment for which the agencies have been really quick in responding to it. The present review will provide a platform for the reader, about all the response of the regulatory authorities in the field of prevention, control, transmission management, diagnosing, and treatment and about the ongoing clinical trials of vaccines and drugs.
