PHARMACOGNOSTICAL AND PHARMACEUTICAL EVALUATION OF KSHEERA BALA TAILA IN THE MANAGEMENT OF CERVICAL SPONDYLOSIS W.S.R. TO ASTHIGATA VATA

Abstract
Cervical Spondylosis is generally an age related degenerative condition
that affects the joints of the neck. Asthigata Vata is also an age related
degenerative condition and is explained in Brihatrayi as one of the
Dhatugata Vata Vyadhies. Ksheera Bala Taila is compound Ayurvedic
formulation mentioned in “Sahasrayoga” text for the treatment of
various Vataja disorders. In this formulation Vatahara drugs like Bala,
Tila Taila are present. These Vatahara drugs are well proved in
management of the Vataja disorder. Pharmacognostical & Analytical
study of Ksheera Bala Taila has been carried out for the evaluation of
its efficacy in the Cervical Spondylosis. On pharmacognostical study,
Compound starch grains, Epidermal cells Lignified pitted vessels
Simple trichome, Pollen grains, Pismatic crystal of Bala and Endosperm cells with
oilglobules, Oil globules with parenchyma cells of Tila Taila were identified. Analytic study
showed 13 spots at 254nm and 2 spots at 366nm.
