GENERAL OVERVIEW ON BIOLOGICAL ACTIVITIES OF THUJA ORIENTALIS

Abstract
Thuja orientalis is an ornamental evergreen tree or shrub belonging to
family Cupressaceae located in temperate and semi-temperate areas
and which is known as ‘Tree of life’ according to Buddhist thought in
China probably based on the tree's unchanging evergreen nature has
been utilised from very long time for its various biological activities.
This review mostly focuses on various research activities carried out to
find out its biological activities such as antioxidant, antibacterial, antiangiogenesis,
anti-cancer, in diabetes mellitus, anti-allergic,
antimicrobial, antiviral, anti-inflammatory and hair growth-promoting
activities.
