CLINICAL EFFECTIVENESS OF GINSENG QUINQUEFOLIUM IN THE CASES OF SCIATICA

Abstract

Background: Sciatica is a very common spinal nerve disorder which is commonly found in present scenario, mainly affects middle age group people due to life style changes; their prolonged sitting jobs and usually lack of physical activity. Research question: Whether the patients of Sciatica get the beneficial result by using homoeopathic medicine Ginseng Quinquefolium? Aim: To study the effectiveness of Ginseng Quinquefolium in the management of Sciatica. Objective: To study the effect of medicine Ginseng Quinquefolium in Sciatica, by using Sciatica Bothersomeness Index. Methods: 100 patients were taken up for this study after diagnosed to be having Sciatica with the help of complete history and clinical examination of patients i.e. positive SLR test with lassegue’s sign and managed with homoeopathic medicine i.e. Ginseng quinquefolium. Result: Out of 100 patients of Sciatica, Ginseng quinquefolium were prescribed in which 51(51%) patients showed marked improvement in their symptoms, 13(13%) patients showed moderate improvement, 29(29%) patients showed mild improvement and remaining 7(7%) didn’t respond to the medicine i.e. status quo.
