KNOWLEDGE AMONG THE PHYSICIANS AND NURSING STAFF ABOUT COVID-19MANAGEMENT GUIDELINES IN QASSIM PROVINCE, SAUDI ARABIA

Abstract
Background: Generally epidemics and pandemics can occur
periodically as a result of bad management of human and
environmental activities separately as well as combination of both
factors. COVID - 19 affected almost all continents where human
population is resided and also 212 countries. Objectives: To determine
the demographic factors, knowledge among the participants and
prophylactic use of HCQS in COVID -19 as per Saudi CDC guidelines
in the study population. Methodology: A cross-sectional study was
conducted among the physicians and nurses in Saudi Arabia. Data was
collected through google forms as the epidemic in heighted situation
and also to maintain social distancing purpose. Questionnaire was circulated as a link through
whatsaap groups and e mail communication. Duration of the data collection was 2 weeks.
Data was entered in SPSS version 21.0 and necessary statistical tests were applied. Results:
In the present study, total of 69 participants were responded. About 68.1 percent were males
and 31.9 percent were females. About 60.9% were Saudi participants and 39.1 percent were
non Saudi participants. One of the interesting finding was about drug used in COVID - 19
supportive care, about 92.8% were answered correct and in case of dose and duration of
treatment of COVID - 19 management mild to moderate category was 44.9%. There was
significant association was observed between the male gender, Saudi nationality with
knowledge on duration of COVID - 19 management (P< 0.05). Conclusions: Based on the
results, about antiviral drug indication in COVID - 19 supportive care and regarding HCQS
prophylaxis almost three fourth people answered correctly. As a result of pandemic increasing globally, need to increase the capacity building in relation to treatment and management protocols to all health care professionals to combat the unforeseen situation of COVID - 19 control and eradication.
