Abstract
Acute heart failure is an emergency that is characterized by the rapid
onset or increase of symptoms of heart failure. It may be the first to
develop or a manifestation of decompensation of chronic heart failure.
Dysfunction of the heart can be a consequence of myocardial ischemia,
rhythm disturbances, valve dysfunction, pericardial damage, increased
filling pressure or systemic resistance. The first developed acute heart
failure is most often observed in patients with acute coronary
syndrome. The article is devoted to a very important problem of
emergency cardiology, namely the treatment of patients with acute
decompensated heart failure. The article presents: the algorithm for
diagnosing this disease, the modern classification of inotropic agents,
and the practical application of a combination of inotropic agents in a specific clinical
situation.
Keywords: Acute heart failure (AHF), acute decompensation of heart failure, inotropic drugs, clinical use.
