EFFICACY OF AGNIKARMA IN THE MANAGEMENT OF GRIDHRASI: A SINGLE CASE STUDY

Abstract

A patient aged 46 years male from Kamrup District, Assam approached to Shalya Tantra OPD, Govt. Ayurvedic College & Hospital, Guwahati-14 with complain of pain and stiffness over low back region which radiates to back side of the thigh, knee,calf and foot, difficulty in walking and postural change. On clinical examination, SLR test was found positive and the patient was diagnosed as a case of Gridhrasi. After performing all routine investigations, Agnikarma with the help of Panchadhatu shalaka with bindu type twaka vrana has been applied over the most tender spots and the procedure was repeated for three sittings with 7 days interval. The signs and symptoms like pain (ruja), stiffness (stambha), tingling sensation were gradually subsided. SLR was found negative after treating with Agnikarma.
