HYPERTENSION FROM AURVEDEDIC PROSPECTIVE

Abstract
Hypertension is the most common life style disorder today. In India hypertension is responsible for 57% of stroke death and also 24% all coronary heart disease death). Hypertension is a chronic and often asymptomic medical condition in which systemic arterial blood pressure is elevated beyond normal. In ayurveda there is no description of such a single disease which can resemble with hypertension. As per ayurvedic principles in case of unknown diseases, the physcian should try to understand the nature of diseases through dosha, the site of menifestation, etiological factors and then should initiate the treatment. In ayurveda, Hypertension be considered as Tridoshaj vyadhi. Treatment for Hypertension in Ayurveda on the basis of Balancing all three Doshas. So Nidan Parivarajan, proper dietary habits, Yoga, Meditation along with ayurvedic herbs can be benifical for balancing the state of mind, maintain as well as redeuce blood pressure. This article proves that there is major role of all three Doshas, Rakta and Mana the pathogenesis of Hypertension, as well as maintaing balance of Tridoshas, Rakta, Mana with the help of Nidan parivarjan, proper Ahar-Vihar and shodhan-Shaman chikitsa of Tridoshas will definetaly control High Blood pressure.
