EFFICACY OF HARITAKI CHURNA WITH GUDA IN THE MANAGEMENT OF PANDU

Abstract The present study conducted at Department of Kayachikitsa at Tilak Ayurved Mahavidyalaya Pune during the period of November 2004 to February 2006. The main aim of this Ayurvedic medical science is to protect the human beings from various diseases following by rules and regulation of swasthavrutta and to have disease free human beings to have healthy society. In this present study, the fine powder of Haritaki was mixed with Guda in the same quantity. The Guda-Haritaki yoga was prepared. The Guda Haritaki was given in a quantity of 20 gm (i.e. 10 gm. of Haritaki and 10 gm of Guda in mixed powder form) in a pouch of plane smooth brown paper to each patient for 7 days, after that 8 pouches were given. In present study shows that pandu is commonly seen in the age groups of 20-30yrs. This major percentage shows that the incidence of pandu is very common in females. From 50 pts. on clinical trial, 30 (60%) were Hindus, 12 (24%) were Muslims, 5 (10%) were Christians & 3 (6%) were Jain. We found that as far as socioeconomic status was covered majority patients were from lower class 33 (66%), secondly middle class 12 (24%) & 5 (10%) were upper class. Most of the cases (66%) at lower class shows that Pandu is probably due to malnourishment which could be due to poor food habits. Out of the total 50 pts, changes in Hemoglobin was treated in 15 days clinical trial. Observations showed that 44 pts. (88%) have rise in Hemoglobin % in 15 days clinical trial while 6(12%) pts, have no change in Hemoglobin. Keywords: Pandu Roga, Gud, Haritaki Churna, Haemoglobin.
