COMPARATIVE STUDY OF THYROID PROFILE IN GERIATRIC AND NON GERIATRIC TYPE 2 DM PATIENTS IN A TERTIARY CARE HOSPITAL

Abstract The risk of developing thyroid dysfunction may be more prevalent in the patients with other endocrine disorders especially diabetic patients. The study assess thyroid profile in geriatric & non geriatric population and compare the outcomes in both groups. Here a comparative study was conducted in adult inpatients of all departments who have been diagnosed with diabetes. The thyroid profiles in both the groups were recorded in data entry form. The results are compared. A total of 100 patients were enrolled for the study and their medical and medication profiles were analyzed. The non-geriatric (70%) category showed increase in the incidence of thyroid disorders when compared to geriatric category (52%).
