Abstract In Ayurveda Skin is called ‘Twak’. The study of Twak is important as it is an index of a person’s health status. It is also seat for all skin disorders. Skin with brighter complexion & smoother surface tends to be perceived as being healthier & more attractive. In order to understand any skin disease, its rachanatmak & kriyatmaka aspect is important. There are many concepts of Skin (Twak) regarding its utpatti, layers & related disorders. Twak is adhistan of sparshendriya. It has panchbhautik sanghatan & it contains Dosh Dhatu Mala.
