THE PHYTOCHEMICAL CONSTITUENTS AND PHARMACOLOGICAL ACTIVITY OF CITRUS AURANTIUM (BITTER ORANGE): A REVIEW

Abstract The Citrus aurantium is generally referred to as bitter orange from the Rutaceae family. The peel is a skin of leather rings or citrus fruit that contains many oil glands .traditionally orange peel is used as a stimulant, aromatic, carminative. C. aurantium is very important because it is also commonly used as a source of edible fruit in folk medicines. The Essential oil orange peel improves fragrance and taste. Detailed information on ethnomedical information, chemical elements, natural and pharmacological work on C is currently being used. C.aurantium, these are added. The traditional and existing the sources for the use of C.aurantium in ethnopharmacology. Traditional and current sources for particularly infectious, diarrheal, intestinal, and fever uses. An essential herb, flower, and seed oil is a cure for various illnesses and other health benefits. The present review discusses the numerous ethnobotanical applications, and common uses as well as phytochemical and pharmacological studies on citrus aurantium.
