Abstract The word Srotas derived from Sanskrit root “stru” which means to oozing, to flow and filtrate. Srotas are panchabhautik but they having Akash Mahabhut Pradhan. Srotas are defined as the channel through which Rasadi Dhatus flow from one part to another part. Also, Srotas are structural and functional unit and a channel of circulation or an inner transport system of the body. They are named so because their tendency of trickling or oozing of secretion through them. Each srotas is said to associate with two organs which are termed as Srotomool. The normal functioning of srotas depend on the Moolashtana. Srotomool is the area of origin and its impact or area of influence from where the srotas or circulating channels arises. This part regulates and controls the all activities or function of the particular Srotas. Raktavaha srotas are channels involved in Raktautpatti (blood formation), vahana (circulation), functioning or destruction of blood or lymph in the body. Rakta dhatu is more than blood and considered as primary fire of the body. Yakrit, Pleeha and Raktavahi Dhamanya are consider as Moolashthana of Raktavaha srotas as describe by Ayurvedic samhitas. Raktavahastrotasdushti causes due to intake of Vidahianna and Pana, Snigdhaahar, Ushnadrava along with extreme sunlight and air.
