NANOSPONGES: AN OVERVIEW ON PROCESSING, APPLICATION AND EVALUATION

Abstract Nanosponges a versatile and novel class of drug delivery system and ideal drug therapy achieves effective concentration of drug at the target site for specific period time in order to minimize local and general side effects. Basically Nanosponges effectively increases the solubility of poorly water soluble drug. Preparation of nanosponges can be done by hypercrossed linked β –CD method, Quasi emulsion diffusion method, Emulsion solvent diffusion method, Ultrasound assisted synthesis nanosponges. Nanosponge technology is used for topical application, oral drug delivery, cancer therapy, antiviral application and sustained delivery system.
