AN AYURVEDIC APPROACH IN MANAGEMENT OF ECZEMA (VICHARCHIKA): A CASE REPORT

Abstract Skin is the mirror which reflects the functioning of internal organs of body. Skin is the first and largest site visible organ of body which acquires 1.5 – 2 square meter surface area of the body. In Ayurvedic classics, skin diseases comes under the entity of Kushta, which is divided into two Mahakushta and Kshudrakushta. Vicharchika is one of the type of Kshudrakushta which is Kapha predominant having symptoms such as Kandu (Itching), Shyava (Blackish discolouration), Pidika (Eruptions) and Bahusrava (Discharge). In Eczema where is inflammation of the upper layers of the skin, causing itching, blisters, redness, swelling, and often oozing, scabbing and scaling. In present case report, a patient with complaints of blackish discolouratin of skin with pain, discharge & itching on dorsum of right foot, was treated with Shodhana (Virechana) and Sanshamana Chikitsa and significant results was obtained.
