AWAKE MRI IN A CHILD WITH BARDET- BIEDL SYNDROME
Dr. Shusheela Taxak, Dr. Manju Bala*, Dr. Deepak Singh,Dr.Nupur Abrol
Abstract Bardet- Biedl syndrome is an autosomal recessive disorder. The cardinal features are truncal obesity, postaxial polydactyly, cone-rod dystrophy, hypogonadism, cognitive impairment, diabetes mellitus and renal dysfunction. Children with Bardet- Biedl syndrome frequently require multiple anaesthetics for diagnostic and therapeutic measures. Here we describe a case of 6 year old male child with Bardet- Biedl syndrome scheduled to undergo MRI. In this case we successfully counselled the child for awake MRI and avoided the risk associated with anaesthesia in a syndromic child. Keywords: Bardet - Biedl syndrome, MRI.
