REHABILITATION OF A MENTALLY DISABLED PATIENT

Abstract
Rehabilitation is the process of helping a person who has suffered an illness or injury restore lost skills so regain maximum self-sufficiency. Rehabilitation of mentally discharged person is one of the most important social work. Some of the rehabilitation services extended to patient include aftercare and resettlement for long-stay patient jobs for the mentally disabled persons, sponsorship programmers, social skill development programs and other related services for the mentally disabled persons. Rehabilitation of patient with mental retardation and mentally retarded offenders in India For the above purpose Government of India set a council for it called “The Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI)”. It was established as a registered society in 1986. It was set up with a view to regulate and monitor services given to persons with disability to standardize syllabi and to maintain a central rehabilitation register of all qualified professionals and personal working in the field of rehabilitation and special education.The act also prescribes punitive services to persons with disability
