A CLASSICAL REVIEW ON SHIGRU (MORINGA OLEIFERA LAM)

Abstract
Moringa oleifera Lam is a plant widely available, it is highly nutritious and traditionally used as folklore medicine. It is also used as food and foliage for animals. Moringa oleifera Lam is from the family Moringaceae and it is the only genus in this family. It is known as Shigru, Sehjan, Shobhanjan, Teekshngandha, Aksheev in ayurvedic literature. Its leaf, flower, bark and oil is used in medicine for curing many disease. The plant is bitter, anti-bacterial, antifungal, anti gastric, analgesic, anti inflamatory, cardio protective, wound healing etc.
