GHRITA AS VISHGHNA AND ITS YOGA

Abstract
Agad tantra comprises keen knowledge of visha (poison) and describe many Vishghna yoga for remediation. Many forms have been described in Ayurvedic text, one of the most beneficial form is Ghrita kalpna. Ghrita is a well-known anti-oxidant product which also inhibit microbial growth and show many medicinal properties. Ghrita play an important role in treatment of Visha, as described by Acharya Vagbhatt, in all types of Visha (Sthavara, Jangama, Kritima), in every Avastha (phase) of Visha, there is no other medication like Ghrita. Ghrita is commonly used Anupaana dravya for Vishghna yoga. These formulations are combination of many herbs and minerals which mainly hold anti-microbial, anti-fungal, anti-oxidant etc, properties, combining these dravyas with ghrita increases their efficacy and metabolism in body. Some important formulations are Kalyanak Ghrita, Amrit Ghrita, Ajeya Ghrita, Ghradhoomaadi Ghrita etc. This paper presents a detailed review of Ghrita and its preparations used in treatment of poisons or described as Vishghna in Ayurveda.
