A CASE REPORT- EFFECT OF VAMANA KARMA (SHODHANA CHIKITSA) AND SHAMANA CHIKITSA IN SIDHMA KUSHTHA

Abstract
Introduction: The disease in which vitiated Vatadi dosha causes the discoloration of the skin is known as Kushtha. In Kushtha vyadhi, there is putrefaction of the skin and other Dhatu in body. According to Ayurveda all skin diseases are included in Kushtha. A patient of 31 years old was diagnosed as Sidhma Kushtha, classical treatment according to Ayurved text Vamana karma (Shodhana chikitsa) and Shamana Chikitsa were given. Material and Methods: This is a case study of Sidhma Kushtha, where 31 year old male patient having symptoms of Slightly white red color patches at head (Shweta, Tamra varnayukta twaka vaivarnya-shiropradesh), Burning sensation (Vaivarnyapradeshi Daha), Itching (Vaivarnyapradeshi Kandu), Scaling of skin (Rajo ghrushtam vimunchati) symptoms were indicating confirmed diagnosis of Sidhma kushtha. Patient was planned for Vamana karma (Shodhana chikitsa) after Pachana. After Shodhana patient was treated with Shamana Chikitsa for 1 month. PASI Score and Gradations were applied for the assessment of all symptoms. Observation and Result: After the treatment PASI Score was reduced to 0.4 from 5.7. Significant results were observed and symptoms of Sidhma Kushtha were reduced. It also shows significant changes in Gradations. Conclusion: It can be concluded that Vamana Karma (Shodhana chikitsa) and Shamana Chikitsa is effective in Sidhma Kushtha.
