AYURVEDA MANAGEMENT OF TOBACCO ADDICTION WITHDRAWAL: A SINGLE CASE STUDY

Abstract
Tobacco is one of the most widely abused substances in our country because it is legal, easily obtained and can be consumed in public. Tobacco addiction means, if a person cannot stop the smoking or chewing of tobacco (nicotine substance) after some despite attempt of quit then he is called tobacco addicted and this type of addiction is called tobacco addiction. Tobacco addiction withdrawal symptoms are irritability, restlessness, anxiety, moody, lack of concentration sleep disturbances, bowel disturbance etc. Tobacco have a tikta rasa & katu rasa, katu vipaka, ushna virya so it’s elevate pitta dosha. Pachak piita is a type of pitta and it’s resemble as a digestive juice. Therefore, consumption of tobacco leads to aggravate pitta dosha and also increase pachaka pitta. In this case the management of tobacco addiction withdrawal concentrated on the pittashama and medhya drugs, diet and counselling.
