THE CONCEPT OF AMLAPITTA (GORD) AND ITS MANAGEMENT THROUGH PATHYAPATHYA

Abstract Amlapitta has become one of the most common problems of Amashayagata - Annavaha srotas due to changing lifestyle, food habits, lack of physical activities and mental stress. The three main reason for the disease Hurry, Worry, and Curry.[1] In modern view gastrointestinal tract disorder like hyperacidity, gastritis and dyspepsia can be correlated with Amlapitta. A huge population is highly affected due to this disease. In western studies, the general population suffers from GORD (Gastro - Oesophageal reflex disease) is 15% to 20%. The prevalence of GORD in Asia is 2.3% to 8%. in India; the frequency is increasing day by day with moderization in the life style due to which upcoming generation is at high risk. In Ayurveda, mainly the treatment is Nidana parivarjana and Samprapti vighatana are also applicable in the disease of Amlapitta. The Pathyaahara here signifies its role as a Nidana parivarjana.
