A REVIEW ON STROKE THROMBOLYSIS WITH TENECTEPLASE TO REDUCE EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT SPREAD OF CORONA VIRUS AND SHORTAGE OF ALTEPLASE
Athira J. R.*, Dhanya Dharman and Shaiju S. Dharan
Abstract Measures to be taken to reduce emergency department staffs’ exposure to severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus has focused on screening and also the use of personal protective equipment. Upon reduction of time and intensity of interactions with individuals of known or suspected cases of Coronavirus 2019(COVID-19) is also desirable, but such reductions do not compromise the quality or outcomes of vigilance. This situation of acute stroke emergency is a particularly vulnerable situation for exposure and channeling, since a considerable proportion of patients are unable to provide a history to screen them out for COVID-19.[1] Intravenous infusion of alteplase was used for thrombolysis previously than endovascular thrombectomy for ischemic stroke. Tenecteplase, more fibrin-specific and having longer activity than alteplase can also be given as a bolus and may increase the incidence of vascular reperfusion.[2] Keywords: Intravenous thrombolysis, alteplas, tenecteplase, Epidemiology [Full Text Article] [Download Certificate] |
