Abstract

EFFECT OF TIKTA RASA DRAVYAS IN MANAGEMENT OF PRAMEHA

Abstract

Ayurveda the ancient science of medical system describe diabetes as Madhumeha or Prameha. Ayurveda mentioned various types of Prameha depending upon imbalance of the Doshas; Vata, Pitta and Kapha. Prameha related to vitiation of Vata dosha considered incurable. Prameha associated with vitiation of the Pitta dosha difficult to cure while Prameha which involve vitiation of Kapha dosha considered as curable. Ayurveda describe various drugs for the management of Prameha having rasa of tikta, katu and kashay. This article presented ayurveda perspective of Prameha and its management with tikta rasatmak drugs.
