CRITICAL REVIEW AND PROBABLE MODE OF ACTION OF AGNITUNDI RASA – A HERBOMINERAL FORMULATION

Abstract
Agnitundi vati is one of the famous traditional Ayurvedic formulation
used in Agnimandya. It is a Kharaliya Rasayana and Herbo-mineral
formulation (Rasaushadhi). Agnitundi rasa is one of the unique
combination of dravyas which consist mineral like Parada and
Gandhaka (Kajjali), Visha dravya like Vatsanabha and Kuchala,
Kshara dravya like Sajjikshara, Yavakshara, Tankan kshara, Lavana
dravyas like Saindhava, Sauvarchala, Samudra and Herbal dravyas.
This formulation mainly helps in weak digestion and help in
strengthening the digestive capability of intestines. This formulation is
containing many aromatic, carminative, digestive herbs which reduce
gas formation and indigestion. On exploring the formulation it came into notice that this
formulation mainly contains all Agnidipaka, Aampachaka ingredients with Kajjali,
Vatsanabha and Kuchala like drugs which altogether enhances the properties of the
formulation, hence this formulation is mainly used in Agnimandya. This article compile the
Introduction, Aim and Objectives of Study, views about different compositions according to
various classical textbooks, Dose (matra), Duration and Anupana, Drug review, Doshaghanta
of ingredients. Karmuktva of ingredients, various ailments in which it is indicated, Discussion
and Conclusion.
