Abstract
Ayurveda the traditional science which is especially supported Tridosha Siddhantha. All physiological functions are performed by Tridosha when they are in normal state. Pitta, one among three doshas plays a major role in digestion and metabolism. Pitta dosha is of 5 types namely pachaka, ranjaka, alochaka, bhrajaka, and sadhaka pitta. Ranjaka pitta one of the subtypes of pitta which is particularly located in stomach, liver and spleen with regard to its function related to coloring the rasa and also takes part in Raktothpatti. The functions of Ranjaka Pitta can be related to the functions of intrinsic factor secreted by the gastric glands which is responsible forthe absorption of vitamin B12. The absorbed vitamin B12 is needed for the syntheisis of hemoglobin, which imparts red color to blood. Vitamin B12 have crucial role in erythropoiesis. Erythropoiesis is a stage where uncommitted pluripotent hematopoietic stem cells get origin development and maturation. Haritha clearly explains the seven stages of Raktotpatti and color changes during the stage of transformation of rasa to Rakta. Hence here we will establish the relationship between the function of Ranjaka pitta and therefore the factors liable for erythropoiesis. Ranjak pitta and its correlation with intrinsic factor, vit. B12, folic acid, Iron, copper, cobalt, calcium.
