Abstract

A CONCEPTIUAL STUDY OF SWASTHAYU: AN AYURVEDIC APPROACH

Abstract

Ayurveda is an ancient science of health promotion, disease prevention and treatment. The chief aim of Ayurveda is to promote health of healthy individual and secondary aim is to treat illness. Swastha (health) of an individual is purely depending upon the balanced state of dhosha, dhatu, mala and agni. Health is maintained by maintaining the equilibrium between individual’s body, mind and spirit. Noncommunicable lifestyle diseases are rapidly increasing globally and essential management is to follow healthy lifestyle. The main cause of these diseases, according to ayurveda is pradyaparadha. Pradyanparadha results into faulty dietary habits which disturb the balanced state of tridoshas and these doshas get aggregate in the body. Vitiated doshas then disturbs the dhatus and malas which results into manifestation of various diseases in the body. Ayurveda aims to achieve harmony through yoga, diet and by promoting regimen of personal and social hygiene i.e. dincharya, ritucharya etc. Objective:- To study ayurveda regimen to promote swastha. Material and Method:- Literature review of ayurvedic samhitas along with internet material and research papers. In Conclusion, ayurvedic knowledge will be implemented and practiced which will be beneficial to the society.
