TAMBULA-SEVANA AS A HEALTHY DAILY REGIMEN: AN AYURVEDA OVERVIEW

. Abstract Tambula (betel leaves/Paan) Sevana is an Ayurvedic daily regimen & also part of Indian traditions. All Ayurvedic classics mentioned betel leaves chewing in the context of Dinacharya (daily regimen) for the maintenance of good oral hygiene and as a prevention of diseases of the oral cavity and throat. Tambul-Sevana is essential rule to be followed after food for better post meal digestions. It has aphrodisiac properties, Hot in nature and improves physical and mental stamina. The aim of the present study is to comprehend the fragmented information of Tambula Sevana from all Ayurveda classics and journals and highlighting the traditional methods of betel leaves chewing, its uses, techniques, timings, contraindications along with its ingredients properties & its Traditional literature review with probable mode of action. Ayurvedic method of Tambula-Sevana (betel leaves) chewing is very safe and good for health. Practically betel leaves do not have any match as it is an inexpensive, herbal and simply available appetizer, digestive stimulant, aphrodisiac and revitalizing mastication.
