Abstract

A SCIENTIFIC EXPLORATION ON ROLE OF MANASIK BHAVA IN GRAHANI ROGA: IN AYURVEDA

Abstract

Grahani Roga is the prime disease of gastro-intestinal tract and seen often in day-to-day practice. In our classics Grahani is described as an Agni adhishthana. Any disturbance in the status of agni leads to Grahani roga. Grahani roga is one among the ashta mahagadas. Ayurveda described the individuality of Mana and Shareera and their inseparable and interdependent relation in the body. In Ayurveda separate Nidana panchakas are not explained for Grahani roga, as Samanya nidana is applicable and Manasika nidanas of Grahani roga in general. Grahani roga is a predominant Pitta Vata dosha and the manasika bhavas can be easily be disturbed by Vata and Pitta dosha. Both Ayurveda and contemporary science accept the fact that for better management and prevention of Grahani Roga (IBS,) psychological factors are having a significant role. So in order to remove a disease from its root, the causative factors should also be understood and ruled out completely. With the consideration of increasing rate gastrointestinal disease across the globe and world is looking forward towards Ayurveda for safe treatment modalities, it is essential to find out the effective therapeutic procedures from our science. In this article an effort is made to understand the role of manasik bhavas in Grahani roga.
