AYURVEDIC MANAGEMENT OF KAMPVATA: A CASE STUDY

. Abstract Introduction: In Ayurveda, Major neurological problems (essentially the condition of various degenerative diseases of nervous system) come under vata Vyadhi, Kampavata is one of them and having clinical manifestations similar to Parkinson’s disease in modern science. Materials & Methods: A male patient aged 68 yrs. having complain of Dakshin ansha to hastha shool, Dakshin hastha kampa, Smruti bhransha for 6 months diagnosed as kampvata. symptoms gradually increased along with tremors and memory loss. It was treated with both external and internal therapy which included shodhan and shaman for 8 days. Observation & Result: After the treatment there was marked improvement in the signs and symptoms of patient. Conclusion: This case study revealed that sodhana and abhyantar chikitsa are significantly effective and clinically safe as no adverse drug reactions were reported during treatment period in the management of kampavata.
