DEVELOPMENT OF HERBAL TOOTHPASTE CONTAINING MANGO LEAVES EXTRACT

. Abstract In recent years dental caries is the most common health problem in the world. Toothpaste paste, gel dentifrices used with a tooth brush to promote oral hygiene. Tooth paste cleans the teeth protects them against tooth decay and keeps them looking healthy and attractive to look at also ensuring fresh breath. The aim of current research to formulate herbal toothpaste containing Mango leaves extract. This mango leaves extract posses the antibacterial activity. This formulated herbal toothpaste complies with all the required conditions and can prevent tooth decay by bacteria. The formulated herbal toothpaste was compared with marketed preparation. Prepared toothpaste was light green in colour, smooth in nature, pH-8.2, Extrudability-89.50%, Foamability 10 ml, and stable formulation. The antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus reveals that formulated herbal tooth paste exhibited notable activity with zone of inhibition of 18-21 mm. Comparison of prepared formulation with marketed herbal toothpaste shows similar results. So the project has good scope in dental research, dental health of public, utilization of natural resources and cost reduction.
