. Abstract Oral care is essential for optimum health and quality of life. Dental, oral, and maxillofacial diseases are by far the most common problem facing small animal practice. These conditions create significant pain, as well as localized and potentially systemic infection. Pets may need dental diagnostics and treatment just like people which is delivered by veterinary dentistry, currently recognised as a speciality by the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA). This field is an evolving science and has a greater scope of development. This article provides an overview of common oral pathologies and various treatment considerations concerning the oral wellbeing in animals.
