Abstract

COVID 19 OUTBREAK AND RELEVANCE OF RITUCHARYA IN ITS PREVENTION

Abstract

Ayurveda is an ancient system of medicine which deals with prevention, treatment and non- recurrence of diseases as well as management of diseases. Covid- 19 is an outgoing pandemic all over the globe on 11th march 2020 WHO has declared it as pandemic diseases. In Ritucharya special regime according to each Ritus has been mentioned by the respective acharyas. There are 6 seasons in Indian sub-continent. Shishir (winter), Vasant (spring), Grishma (summer), Varsha (mansoon), Sharad (autumn) and Hemant (pre winter). There are many references in Ayurvedic classics about janpadodwamsa. The symptoms of covid 19 like fever, cough, shortness of breath, running nose are similar to the symptoms we get to see in various Doshaprakopas. Ayurveda categorizes diseases and treatment in terms of vitiated Doshas, Prakriti of individuals and Adhishthan of disease however the treatment of diseases include much more aspect like Rogamargakaal etc. Most of the cases of covid 19 started by the end of February and beginning of March, end of Shishir Ritu and beginning of Vasant Ritu the period is called as Ritu sandhi in India. Ritusandhi is the kaal (time) where maximum outbreak of diseases takes place. Principle of Ritucharya according to Ayurveda can be applied for both preventive and curative aspects of diseases. In this paper an attempt is to prevent and cure covid 19 and bring for the relevance of following Ritucharya in covid 19. Research paper were studied and analyzed. Material were collected from online research paper samhitas and text.
