Abstract

Parikartika is a very painful ano-rectal disease. It`s references are available in the Brihatrayees. The word parikartika means „Parikartana vat vedana‟ around Guda Pradesh. It is also having the symptoms like burning sensation, sometime swelling and bleeding from anus. In the modern science it can be correlated to fissure in ano. The Parikartika is not a separate disease entity. It is mentioned as a sign or symptom of many diseases or as a complication of Ayurvedic procedure. It may also be produced due to some instrumentation, like enema nozzle etc. Here an attempt is made to introduce the Parikartika as a disease itself. Ayurveda has the miraculous results in anorectal diseases along with Nidan Parivarjana and herbal medicines.
