. Abstract Introduction: Diarrhea is one of the leading causes of preventable death in children below five in developing countries. Aim: This research is designed to evaluate the antidiarrheal activity, acute toxicity studies and quantitative phytochemical analysis of the methanol leaf extract of Combretum bauchiense, a plant belonging to the family of Combretaceae. Methods: The leaves of this plant was collected, cleaned, dried, pulverized and extracted by cold maceration method using methanol as solvent. Acute toxicity studies (LD 50) for the methanol leaf extract was studied standard method. The antidiarrheal activity of the methanol leaf extract of Combretum bauchiense was evaluated at different doses of 100,200 and 400mg/kg using in-vivo models. Results: The results has shown that, 400mg/kg (P Keywords: Combretum bauchiense, leaf extract, antidiarrheal, loperamide, castor oil. [Full Text Article] [Download Certificate] |
