DEFINING DRUG DOSES IN PAEDIATRIC-THROUGH AYURVEDA A NARRATIVE REVIEW

. Abstract Vyadhi is the cause of diseases and medicine is the cause of happiness. A drug used in a civilized manner is like nectar and if used otherwise is like a poison. While doing any drug therapy, it is very important to consider the quantity of those medicinal substances. Because sometimes a medicine can prove to be harmful to the child, pregnant or old man, sometimes even in severe and strong disease, a medicine which is very effective in small quantity is of no use. Therefore, the medicine should be given only after seeing the strength of the disease. The medicine should be within a limit, not more or not less. The amount of medicine should be such that, by which dosha rectification and dosha mitigation are the desired actions, but body dhatus should not have their opposite result. As the child is born, use various steps are being taken for child to prevent him from diseases and making him healthy. Such precaution includes swarnaprashan, lehan and ingestion of other particular medicine. Ayurveda, which is one the Matra (dose) of a drug has been mentioned in various treatises out of which Acharya Kashyapa is that the pioneer of Ayurvedic paediatric medicines and he has very well established the paediatric medicines dosing system. Many paediatric doses are based on the child's age or weight. There may have adjustment counting on the kid and therefore the clinical response. Keywords: Diseases, age, dose, matra.
