MANAGEMENT OF ABSCESS THROUGH AYURVEDA: A CASE REPORT

. Abstract Abscess is the collection of pus, a thick yellowish fluid caused by bacterial, protozoan or fungal invasion of body tissues. In modern concepts, one can precisely correlate the Abscess with Vidradhi. This study aims at obtaining the common medications which can help in balancing disturbed pathology. A 49 year old female came with the chief complaint of oozing pus from lesion near natal cleft since 2 weeks, associated with severe throbbing pain while sitting and lie down position. Patient underwent allopathic treatment with oral and injectable therapy but didn’t get relief in the symptoms and there was no regression in the size of lesion also. Provisionally diagnoses as KaphajaVidradhi and treated accordingly. Gandhakrasayana 2 tab TDS, Mahamanjisthadikwatha 25ml TDS before meals, Punarnavadimandur 2 tab TDS after meals, Triphala kashaya for prakshalana locally 3 to 4 times a day was given for a duration of one week. 8th day, patient was completely symptom free with no scar left behind and satisfied with regimen followed. it can be concluded that the Ayurvedic shaman chikitsa is very successful in the management of Vidradhi and also it is safe, cost effective, with no side effects and one can prevent the surgical intervention.
