ROLE OF MEDHYA RASAYAN IN THE MANAGEMENT OF POST COVID MENTAL DISORDER: A REVIEW

. Abstract Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) has been a challenge to medical systems across the world owing to its rapid spread, with health concerns such as clinical presentation, the psychological impact of isolation, and post-COVID sequelae arising. It has also created an alarming situation in terms of socioeconomic crisis and the resulting psychological effects, causing emotional annoyance, anger, irritability, depression, insomnia, stress, fluctuating mood, irritability, insomnia, insecurity, confusion, emotional isolation, social stigma, economic loss, insufficient resources for health care, and inadequate distribution of essentials. These impacts have an influence on both the general public and frontline health-care personnel' mental health (HCWS). The pandemic has a negative impact on overall quality of life, emphasizing the importance of psychological distress prevention as well as effective illness and sequela care. Ayurveda is widely renowned for its comprehensive approach to illness prevention and management via divine therapy (Daivavyapasraya Chikitsa), medicinal therapy (Yuktivyapasraya Chikitsa), and psycho-supportive therapy (Satvavajaya Chikitsa). These methods, together with Medhya Rasayana will aid in the effective avoidance and control of COVID-19's psychological effects. We propose Ayurveda's Medhya Rasayana for the prevention and management of psychological disorders caused by the present epidemic in this review. Medhya Rasayana methods may be utilised to effectively manage the psychological effects of COVID-19 and other similar disorders, particularly in vulnerable populations like as elders, HCWs, and quarantined persons, in order to assist them improve their immune status and move forward in life.
