APPLICATION OF UDUMBARA KSHEER SUTRA IN THE NADI VRANA (PILONIDAL SINUS) - A CASE STUDY
*Dr. Anup Kumar, *Dr. Suman Yadav and *Dr. Ashutosh Kumar Yadav
. Abstract Pilonidal sinus (PNS) occurs at the point of dislocation of the buttocks (natal cleft) and can cause discomfort, embarrassment and loss of function. It is more common in men (as they have more hair) than in women. The most commonly used surgical procedures for this disease include major incision and closure and cutting with a reconstructed flap. However, the risk of recurrence or infection after surgery is high. Also, the patient needs to be hospitalized longer, and the procedure is expensive. There are similarities between Shalyaj Nadi Vran described in Sushruta Samhita and the Pilonidal sinus. Sushruta has recommended a non-invasive parasurgical surgical treatment, i.e., the Ksheer Sutra procedure, for nadi vran. This treatment was therefore attempted on the Pilonidal sinus, and is described in this case report. Ksheer Sutra treatment not only reduces stress and recurrence but also helps the patient to resume work faster and with less discomfort, impact on body image and confidence and reduced costs. Keywords: Pilonidal sinus, Shalyaj Nadi Vran, Udumbara Ksheer Sutra. [Full Text Article] [Download Certificate] |
