A COMPREHENSIVE REVIEW ON TECHNOLOGICAL ASPECTS IN BILAYER TABLET MANUFACTURING
Patil Bhushan R. and Patel Janki B.*
. Abstract The bi-layer tablet refers to a new era in the production of controlledrelease formulations that use a range of features to facilitate proper drug delivery. Bi-layer tablets are good choice for avoiding chemical incompatibilities within APIs and allowing the development of diverse drug release profiles by physically separating them. Bi-layer tablets are excellent for the Bi-layer tablets are ideal for the simultaneous release of two drugs, as well as the sustained release of a tablet with one layer for rapid release as a loading dose and the second layer for the maintenance dose. For diabetic, antihypertensive, anti-inflammatory, and analgesic medications, where combination therapy is frequently utilized, the usage of bi-layer tablets is a highly different element. For a number of reasons, including therapeutics, patent extension, and marketing, several pharmaceutical firms are working on bi-layer tablets. Although the essential principles of tablet manufacturing remain the same, there is a lot more to consider when making multi-layer tablets due to the additional equipment, frequently incompatible excipients, and other formulation and operational concerns. Obstacles in bi-layer tablet manufacturing, bi-layer tablet technology, different tablet presses used, quality and GMP standards for their manufacture, various bilayer tableting techniques, and recent advancements in the field of bi-layer technology are discussed in the following article. Keywords: Bi-layer tablet, Tablet manufacturing, Bi-layer tableting techniques. [Full Text Article] [Download Certificate] |
